On January 30, OPORA Foundation’s CEO, Maria Shaidrova, participated in the 2nd Coordination Meeting of the Skills Alliance for Ukraine, held in Kyiv. Facilitated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, the event brought together representatives from government authorities, international organizations, financial institutions, civil society, and the business community. Discussions focused on the international contributions to Ukraine’s recovery process, emphasizing the critical need to train, reskill, and upskill Ukrainians to support the country’s reconstruction and economic development.
Key topics included:
✅ Labour market needs in Ukraine’s key economic sectors
✅ Upskilling and vocational training programs, both domestically and abroad
✅ Inclusion of vulnerable populations and addressing special needs
✅ International recognition of Ukrainian qualifications

An important aspect of the event was the showcase of successful and innovative initiatives, including OPORA Foundation’s Empatia Program. The presentation highlighted its unique approach to upskilling Ukrainian psychologists and integrating them into the Dutch mental health system, thereby improving access to quality mental health support for displaced Ukrainians in the Netherlands.

Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the war, the Skills Alliance remains committed to advancing training initiatives and strengthening international collaboration. OPORA Foundation is proud to contribute to these efforts, ensuring that Ukrainians have the skills and opportunities necessary to rebuild their country.Photos provided by the organisers of the event.
