As many have correctly guessed in our recent poll — the least understood aspect of displaced persons' lives is their contributions to the local economy and society. However, different researches indicate that displaced persons positively impact economic output, a trend set to grow in the long term.

📊 Key Insights from Deloitte's Research:
The war in Ukraine led to a significant influx of refugees into Poland. As of late 2023, approximately 957,000 Ukrainian displaced persons remained in Poland. Despite the challenges of displacement, these refugees have quickly integrated into the labor market. Deloitte's analysis shows that Ukrainian refugees contributed to Poland's GDP and increased government revenues from taxes, offsetting the costs of supporting these individuals.

📈 Findings from the researches in the Netherlands:
By 2023, UWV reported that 73% of Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands had found full-time or part-time employment. OPORA’s research further supports this trend, showing significant employment of displaced persons in the low-skilled sector. This active participation in the labor market underscores their substantial economic contributions.

These findings highlight the positive impact of displaced persons on local economies, not only as employees but also as entrepreneurs, consumers, and taxpayers.
